Expanded polystyrene is a type of polystyrene product with added foaming agents, abbreviated as “EPS”. The appearance is colorless and transparent bead shaped particles.
EPS has been widely used in many fields due to its excellent and durable thermal insulation, unique shock absorption, aging resistance and water resistance. It has been highly favored in the fields of construction, packaging, electronic and electrical products, ships, vehicles, and aircraft manufacturing。Household appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, electronic instruments, precision instruments, glassware, ceramic products, and other civilian light industrial products, as well as seafood freezing, vegetable preservation, insulated boxes, cold storage, refrigerated trucks, municipal construction, etc., all rely on EPS boards and packaging products.
Expanded polystyrene is also widely used as a decorative material. In particular, the market demand for large foam plates is large,As a lightweight composite panel made of color steel sandwich panels, steel wire (plate) mesh frames, wall exterior panels, roof insulation panels, and geothermal panels, it is more widely used in the field of building construction as insulation, heat insulation, waterproofing, and moisture-proof materials for floors.
There are also two main processes for EPS molding: 1) one-step extrusion route, in which EPS particles are directly hot extruded after foaming, which is commonly used for manufacturing boards and films;2) The molding process involves first pre foaming EPS particles with air (or water vapor) at 100 ℃ for 30-50 times, then allowing them to mature for 24 hours. The already matured pre foaming material is then placed in a mold made of aluminum or castings and heated with air (or water vapor) at 115-120 ℃. As the material expands, the surfaces of the particles fuse with each other through thermal action to form a foam plastic part.
